So much this. I'm not a physical person at all so it's easy for me to gain weight. So to counteract that, I avoid soda, candy, chips...all the traditionally bad stuff. I eat smaller portions of most carbs and starches. I only take water to work and no change for the vending machines so I can't be tempted by the lure of cold soda.

I walk 1.2 miles two times a week right after sunset. It's not much but it gets my heart pumping and my legs and hips feel more toned. Less giggly.

I'll never be in a Hydroxy commercial but I lost about six pounds (I'm 5 foot 2 inches) and it makes a difference in how I feel about my body.

I do give in to the munchies. Not often, but enough that I don't feel deprived of the little things that bring me joy - like a Twinkie or a small bag of chips. And I don't beat myself up about it or see it as a failure. Making good choices is a daily thing, and it's for life. As long as my good choices outnumber my bad choices, I figure I'm doing okay.
