I had an office mate that transitioned from vegetarian to vegan but took no responsibility for it. She didn't learn about nutrition, she didn't get cookbooks or even Google vegan eating. She simply stopped eating anything that came from an animal to the point where she was down to eating plain boiled pasta every day. After a few months of this, her body rebelled and she had a seizure on a street corner which caused her no end of trouble.

I'm not saying veganism leads to trouble, by the way. I supported her veganism...if it's right for you, it's right for you. But the way she went about it, rashly and recklessly, it sent out a bad message to others.

ayrt I've lived with vegans a lot, and basically been vegan for long stretches, and it totally can be a full healthy diet (if SO much energy needed - communal cooking really relieved the strain). I mean, there's many people in India who have been "vegan" for generations. The only problem is the B12, and the aforementioned get that from the microorganisms on the vegies from the soil. Westerners generally don't, so have to supplement.
