You know Pacific Rim. If you had a jaeger (those giant robots) what would you name it? Difficulty: you're fighting monsters as big as skyscrapers. The name needs to be badass.

Aside from knowing that it's a recent movie, I know nothing about Pacific Rim. But! If I had something like that I'd totally go with something classic... Getter(-4?), Grendizer, etc.

Doris or possibly Fifi. And I'd paint it pink, with purple flame effect on it.

You see someone who calls their mecha Fifi, and has Barbie-pink on it, going into battle then you know they must be badass to think they can carry that off. Someone who has black with yellow go-fasta stripes and calls it ThunderRockSmasherBloodyGutsMcgraw, they've got a nagging insecurity problem they are trying to cover up and will probably get smashed as they are too busy worrying about looking cool and macho.

Not seen the movie. But probably my go to name: Akillian. Because it is my robot and I name it what I want.

I would probably panic and name it something dumb like Jeff.

It may help those who haven't seen it to know the movie mechas were called such things as "Gipsy Danger," (USA) "Eureka Striker," (Australia) "Cherno Alpha," (Russia) "Crimson Typhoon," (China) and "Coyote Tango" (Japan).

The formula is basically "vague national stereotype + combat verb OR phrase from NATO phonetic alphabet."

Sorry OP. You started this thread wanting to see the cool names people could come up with and instead you got... this. Be more specific next time?

First of all, Pacific Rim was a wonderful movie and if you haven't seen it yet, you ought to.

As for what I'd name my Jaeger, it'd either be Ace of Diamonds or Delta Rose. Or Bloodhound Zero.
