I always boggle at those kinds of dudes(knew a few irl) because they are always the ones complaining about 'not being able to find girls that like the things they do' but as soon as a girl does try to talk to them about something the dude likes he insults and belittles them into leaving him alone, then carries on whining. :|

Right?! What sense does that even make and how can one not realize how hypocritical they're being?

Even if you don't want to talk to someone you don't have to be rude about it.

Hahaha I know right.

Of course when they say "I can't find girls that like what I like" what they really mean is "I can't find girls that look like supermodels and also like the things I like; because if a girl isn't hawt she doesn't deserve to be treated like a human being, OR the privilege of being the object of my interest."

In my experience, a lot of guys I meet are like "you have a vagina and a heartbeat, and you like what I like! ergo, you're hot!"

I definitely think what you mentioned happens too, on a large scale.

It takes all kinds...

Well if they're decent people (or really desparate) yeah, some guys are like that. I'm pretty sure that's the only way I ever get dates. XD

I was thinking of the kinds of dicks who go around leaving comments like "Kill it with fire" on fat female cosplayers' pictures and stuff.

Yeah, and it probably varies based on the hobby/fandom. But yeah those people are...yuck. "All women must be thin and conventionally pretty because I am entitled to looking at thin and conventionally pretty women!" When they say they wish more women were part of their fandom or hobby, some of them mean they want an increase in diversity/expansion of their fandom, but some of them couldn't care less about that; they just mean they want more eye candy and booty readily available for them to enhance their own experience.

Basically this. So many times I've seen boys on message boards say things like "I wish more girls liked [game series x]" and when they get replies like "I'm a girl and I like it! :D" they're like "Yeah well you're probably fat and ugly, so quit acting like an attention whore." So gross.

It's not legit unless they can see the tits, I guess.

I think it's more like "I can't find girls who like what I like and also bow to me as the superior fan and agree with all fannish opinions I have about the show/movie/book/game/etc."

So it's less about our attractiveness and more about how we shouldn't think so much.

Yeah, this happens too. I guess it just depends on what kind of sexist they are.

(Anonymous) 2013-07-16 01:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep ಠ__ಠ this is how sexism often functions.

Yuck! I've yet to really encounter that.

That's like...they're looking for false validation and a big ego boost.

What are we good for, anyway? So many men just see women as an accessory to their own existence. >______>

Oh god, yes. I knew a couple like this. They've only recently broken up (he's still airing his pain on Facebook. Hates her now, apparently). I don't know how she put up with it, tbh.
