(Anonymous) 2013-07-18 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)Seriously, though. Race is the least you've got to worry about if one of your parents is a god. Species is usually more of a concern. Also angry divine spouses who hate you because you're the product of their husband's adultery (or because you're the child of monsters destined to destroy the world/kill the gods/overthrow the gods). Curses, berserker madness, truly astounding bad luck ... tentacles ...
The children of gods and mortals rarely had a fun time, is what I'm saying.

(Anonymous) 2013-07-18 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)I'd love to see how you'd try to explain the gods of Ancient Greece or Egypt. Everytime they had sex a new monster or animal-headed being popped out. Pretty sure we can conclude that gods can do as they please because they are FICTIONAL and therefore don't have to stick to the biology or logic of humans ;)

(Anonymous) 2013-07-19 12:00 am (UTC)(link)Not sure about Egypt, but most of the Greek monsters/part-animal people I remember were usually the results of a) the non-human parent being a monster/force of nature (Gaia, Echidna, Tartarus, etc), b) shapeshifting being involved in the conception, or c) the kid being cursed by one of the gods?
There was usually a rationale within the mythology, is my point. Not genetics as we know them, but usually at least an explanation?

Shadow has dark skin and is definitely of mixed ancestry since his dad is ... not of this world.
