you don't have to post photos of yourself or talk about your personal life if you don't want to, you know?

tumblr is probably not the best place to find friends who someone with insecurities/social anxiety, since you have to be more proactive in getting people to talk to you and keep the conversation going (preferably in something like an instant message chat program rather than tumblr's own clunky interface)

I don't care for remakes myself, and I'm currently dreading the coming Hollywood version of a series that I love, so I'm just curious!

For what it's worth, I've always liked him! And I can certainly sympathize with you; my favorite Spider-Man characters are also pretty obscure/commonly mocked/unliked (actually, this sadly goes for a lot of my fandoms).

Wait, are you sure you got the right Gaiman book here? Because I know Anansi Boys has had a ton of issues like that, and I really thought Shadow was white when I read American Gods (granted, it's been a little while, but still).

I'm really confused here...

I don't think that's true... The fanbase for YST was pretty big (both in Japan and elsewhere), and it still exists -- it usually gets nominated for Yuletide, for example. Trust me when I say there's a lot of other old anime that doesn't even have a modicum of that!
