Does anyone have some suggestions for horror or comedy radio shows. Something like Cabin Pressure (which I love). would prefer more modern ones (but will take really good older ones). I can't seem to find anything googling (maybe I am using the wrong search terms).

Discovering Things Your Siblings/Other Family Hid From You Online

This is kind of inspired by secret 5, because it made me remember how when I was 13 or so I discovered my 16-year-old sister's myspace page, and how she had written up a blogpost that retold my Dad snapping at my Mom for dropping something (a plate of food, I think. He's grumpy when he's hungry) into a full domestic incident with him being some emotionally abusive bastard treating my mother like a slave. Patently untrue and obviously written to match up with what her online friends were saying about their relatives. I was so vocally pissed off at her for it that she never posted on that blog again.

In a similar but non-infuriating vein, years later when I made an LJ she added me as a friend, not realizing that I could now see her private posts.

I found out way more about my sister's sex life (which at the time I didn't even know she had!) than I ever wanted to know. Ever.

(At least I learned from this what not to do in terms of making things private online.)

I realize that in this community we're the ones who are usually hiding shit that we've done/written online from our families, but have you ever come across that kind of thing from others in your family?

In December or January, an anon here recommended loseit.com in a reply to another person who was interested in weight loss/calorie counting or something.

I started using it, and I've lost almost 20 pounds since January! THANK YOU, ANON! I'm finally at a healthy BMI and my doctor says I've dramatically reduced my risk for various ailments.

How're you all enjoying the summer? Hot enough for you?

Let me tell you about my day!

Got up at 10am, went to the beach. Had a breakfast consisting of ice cream and a can of pop.

Chilled out on the sand for a couple of hours, watching the boats on the ocean coming and going, saw lots of pretty girls wearing not very much, and had another ice cream.

Lunchtime roles up and I have a packet of fish and chips, then have a wander down to the fair. 'Nother ice cream on the way. Spend the last few coppers I have on a couple of rides then I wander back to the beach.

Decide to go for a swim. Spend maybe an hour in the sea then come back, and have a bit of a nap on the beach.

Wake up devastatingly sun burned.

Got home about 7pm and just chilled out in the garden with a book until it got dark.

Life, my friends, can be very good sometimes.

A long time ago I read a book about a girl who can't be exposed to the sun because of a medical condition, so she sleeps during the day and is awake at night. I'm pretty sure it was either YA or a children's book, and I could be wrong but I think the author was female (or at least had a feminine-sounding name). Does anyone here know the title?

So, I've been out of a job for a while, so technically the only think I'm doing is looking for jobs which is mind-numbingly boring, but if I'm honest that maybe takes 2-4 hours a day, certainly not as much as a job would.

And yet, it seems like I'm always out of time, never manage to get stuff done. I volunteer for the LGBT magazine, and maybe I just do 2-3 articles for them every 2 months, but I just never seem to get it done in time even though that's peanuts to what my work load used to be. My place is a mess, I never seem to get around to cleaning. Everything just feels like it's "too much". I get nervous and stressed even if my Mom asks me to do little things. If I have a todo list a barely manage to do half of the things I planned that day. Honestly I don't know if I'm just stressed, depressed, or bored out of my wits. But it's really hard for me to just get on with everyday stuff.

I feel like I will never fit in on fandom. I've never made a fandom friend. I don't know how to approach people, online or offline. I'm really frightened by the idea of exposing myself the way tumblr-famous people do. I'm too shy and closed off to even post a selfie, let alone make a bunch of personal life posts. Trying to contact other people usually results in quick replies, the kind that usually means "that's all you're gonna get from me. I'm not interested in being your friend."

I know I can be recognized by my work, but even that's really hard for me. I like my own art, but that doesn't seem to be the case for other people... And sometimes it gets really lonely, because I like all these things that I have no one to talk about.
