If you're looking for fiction, have you tried Night Vale? I haven't listened to it yet, but people are raving about it.

To expand a little bit on Welcome to Night Vale, it's set up as being the town news of a small desert city called Night Vale. Narrator Cecil reads the news in an even, NPR-style voice.

The news is just the regular goings on of the town. A new dog park is being built (no dogs are allowed in the dog park. Looking at the dog park is prohibited), an underground city is discovered under a pin retrieval area in the bowling alley (and the owner of said alley begins preparing for the inevitable war), a glow cloud rolls into town and begins raising dead animals...

But more importantly, a new scientist has arrived in town, and he has perfect hair.

It's not so much horror as unsettling/creepy, but it's also charming.
