The CBS Radio Mystery Theater is from the late 70s-early 80s. Most of the whole series (around 4000 episodes) is available on ebay for relatively little cost. Funnily enough, the episodes are pretty good quality, all caught by amateurs on cassette tape, and most include news reports/commercials of the day. The stories are hosted by E.G.Marshall and include a mix of genres although definitely focused on mystery/horror.

I listened to it growing up and I love it for the little time capsules the episodes are.
