The BBC does plenty of both, if you can access them. For comedy there's panel shows like The News Quiz, Just A Minute and I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue. A new sketch show called The Show What You Wrote has been good so far, too. For horror, there's series like The Man in Black and Price of Fear, as well as regular adaptations of classic horror stories (they recently had a good H.P. Lovecraft one, and before that it was Carmilla).
