Re: Ever feel like you're just not handling life (even if you don't have much to do)?

It just seems like doing more (like volunteering somewhere) would make it feel even more daunting or stressful. I already stopped doing one volunteer job because it just got too much (and also, they were ungrateful a-holes). I don't know. I definitely don't have much structure, but I was always chaotic and it tended to work out. i think maybe it's this way because I don' *have* to do anything. I don't feel like any of the stuff in meaningful very much, I guess? I might as well not be doing it, you know.

I understand that, applying for jobs is the most important thing as long as you manage to do that, you are doing what you need to do, the rest will work itself out somehow! You wont die if your house is untidy or if you don't do your laundry every week...

I am the same way as you* and I suck at actually following my plans, though I have a friend whom have some mental issues that have taken up exercise and structured her life a bit more and it helped her a lot, especially working for 45 minutes then taking 15 minute breaks, but people are different and what works for one person does not always work for another person.

*My plan is basically, clean every Sunday get my laundry done at least once a week and go to my lectures (try to read some of my course work), make dinner at an reasonable hour, do the stuff I have to do that comes with owning a cat, read a book a week and call my parents (and other family members) once a week. Except when I have to get stuff done (like assignments) then I sit down and write a detailed plan over my week. I am planning to find a part time job after the Summer holidays so I will be more bussy, because I work best under pressure, the less time I have the more I get done.

I think I work better under pressure, too. It's sad to say, but now I no longer have a boss or parents tell me what needs to be done, I descend into chaos and apathy...

Oh you are so not alone! After 4 years of being my own boss so to speak (Norwegian universities are not really strickt on showing up or anything, as long as you pass your one or two assignments and manage to show up to your exam they don't care) I am getting better, and due fall I will take an extra course to be a bit more busy and hopefully as I mentioned find a part time job.

The first two years of living on my own was a disaster, but having a lot of family members whom don't work (for various reasons) I see that half of them do find a way to fill their days and keep their lives structured, the other half not so much...
