Re: How many words in a chapter?

It depends on the story! I try not to go below 4,000 words a chapter though--mostly because I don't like to read less than that for a chapter and I write to make myself happy. Generally my chapters are between 4k to 8k. I've written chapters that are 24k+ but I split them up when posting into 8k bits so it's less daunting for potential readers.

I can't really say why one story has longer chapters than another though. It just comes down to a gut feeling for me.
