Secret 12

[Picture is the cover image of the book "American Gods" by Neil Gaiman. It features a house on a green countryside field being hit by lightning from a sky filled with storm clouds. It has the blurbs: New York Times Bestseller; Author of Neverwhere; and "American Gods manages to reinvent, and to reassert, the enduring importance of fantastic literature itself in this late age of the world. Dark fun, and nourishing to the soul." --Michael Chabon]

I didn't think 'white-washing' was that big of a deal until I saw how many people's fancasts for this book involved casting the main (mixed race, half-black) character as a white guy. I'm just astonished how many people take "mixed-race" to mean "white dude with darker hair". What the fuck? That defies both genetics and good taste.

fancasts = the fandom activity of looking for actors you'd like to play the characters of your fandom if it were given a live action adaptation
