Re: Good characters for autism-spectrum people?

The claymation movie Mary and Max is about a little girl from Australia who becomes pen pals with an autistic man living in New York. It's dark, funny, sad, and uplifting all at once. Warning for depression, suicide, drug + alcohol abuse and probably pretty much all standard trigger warnings, but it's very well-written, and while Max hasn't had the happiest life, he talks in depth about how he sees the world and how he doesn't view himself as defective or needing to be cured. Probably not a good thing to show to young kids, but it's streaming on netflix if you want to check it out for yourself.
