14. Pretty much cements what I said the other day:

Also on the topic of fandom, a thought has occurred to me lately. Why is it that fandom often makes people who ship 'obvious' or 'mainstream' pairings feel like they're inferior, somehow? As if someone's Kai/Zaizen OTP makes them better than someone who ships Kai/Rin or Kai/Kite? What's the deal with that? And I'm not making shit up, am I? I mean, it really does seem like there's some kind of stigma attached to the more popular mainstream pairings.

Fail.

25. Good on you. ☆ Sakuno's just the character type that I dislike, personally, but I don't hate her. She just doesn't interest me at all. I'm always glad to see people who don't hate her, especially because those who do usually do so for reasons like the ones cited in secret #5.

then we are obviously not traveling in the same fandom circles because this is something I've fought for many years - that I'm somehow this pariah in fandom because I don't like or write obvious or mainstream pairings.

Oho? That's strange; most of the pairings I ship are fairly obvious/mainstream (why, I'm not entirely sure; I like what I like, I guess), and it's not like I get bashed for it or anything, but I get this sort of vibe, like, 'lolfanbrat,' which is really ridiculous, when you think about it. How does liking the more obvious pairings in a series make you... yeah, you get it. I'll try not to talk myself in circles.

You're not the OP, are you?

She's not.

I don't think that liking a mainstream pairing makes anyone inferior (pretty much all my friends love'em; I fully understand their reasons and I do support them to death), but the attitude that certain fans have towards odd pairings is not just unfair but rude, they're the persons I'm trying to get away from. (And it's the same the other way around, from crack fans to canon ones, I know that too and can't stand that either.)

I must say I don't bash those who like canon pairings, why would I?
However, I would wish some people (from the fandom in general) were a bit more open-minded and stopped the rant, even if I've learnt to ignore them or laugh at them. I'm trying to do my part, and I'm nice with everyone no matter if they ship something I like or not.

It's hard to deal with those who insult the other people, though.

I hear that. It happens in every fandom; certain groups/circles of fans cop an attitude toward others, usually for ridiculous reasons like these ones.

I have to admit, though (as stupid as it is), I can see the point of the non-mainstream shippers more easily than that of the mainstream: 'You haven't even looked past what the series practically handed you; how shallow is that?' Mainstream shippers... I'm not sure what they're trying to say by hating on non-mainstream pairings, honestly.

And ftr, Momo/Oishi is crazy cute. I've never seen it done, but I can imagine it would be awesome. ☆
