An atheist friend of mine has "found Dawkins". I'm a non-believer myself, but very much not a Dawkins fan. I've said nothing about it yet because I'm not cut out for this kind of argument (much less with someone I've known for some time). I'm just finding myself unusually butthurt and impotently hoping their enthusiasm wanes.

Anyone felt similar?

My situation wasn't exactly similar, but when my good friend realised I am an atheist, she started several discussions about religion and god, trying to change my mind. Normal I am pretty laid-back, when it comes to this or anything else for that matter, but she was persistent and I did get very angry and it kinda escalated from there. The end wasn't nice.

Ew, Dawkins.

Yeah. I'm an atheist and think that while Dawkins is brilliant and certainly has a point, the man reeks of douchebag. I'm also not happy with the whole Elevatorgate incident, and I find that Dawkins is typical of a subset of atheists I find utterly repellant-- privileged white dudes who have some sort of weird hate-boner for women. It wouldn't be so bad if so many younger male atheists didn't worship him and follow his example.
