Welp, that'd explain why I find relationship with large age gaps so squicky.

It depends on the ages of the two involved. If one is a teen, I'll find it squicky if the other part is more than 4-5 years older. If one is in their twenties, I'll probably not be charmed if the other is old enough to be their parent. I've been on a shoujo binge this summer, and let's just say I've had my fill of sixteen year old girls marrying their twenty something teachers.
