It's not as bad as that tumblr post says, no. Yes, she's really the only female character. Yes, she's very important to the plot. No, she's not sexualized (at all really). There isn't really a love story. She faints for a legit, plot related reason.

See the movie for yourself. It's awesome and completely ridiculous and cheesy (and not "dudebro" at all).

I will be seeing it in 9 hours! I'm kinda expecting ridculousness and cheesiness as that's what it's being marketed as, as a bit of fun. But aside from the appalling lack of female characters (just a little bit over the men), it looks like loads of fun with robots and water alien monsters
