I agree. I'm sure that Snape believed what he felt was real true love. Even if he ever recognized that he was fucked up as hell, he was probably still convinced it was love. But I don't think it actually was love because joining up for a genocide against Muggleborns while having his special pet exception -- and had Voldemort kept Lily alive this is literally what she would have been -- still shows such a complete lack of respect for who Lily was as a person even on its own. She was Muggleborn. (And clearly proud of it, given that she chose to fight a war over it, instead of just leaving the wizarding world.) If he had to compartmentalize, rationalize or otherwise ignore that, it means he didn't want to recognize, let alone respect that about her. And this is without getting into the rest of the skeevy shit he did that showed no respect for who Lily was as a person or what she would have wanted.

I just don't think it's love without respect.
