Of course it is feasible for Snape to behave as he does - a flawed character that bends to the pressures of his environment and yet still manages to cling to the idea of love. It seems to me you have led a sheltered life and have no idea of the pressures life imposes on people.

Right, all the people in this thread who don't define love as including abusive behaviour are just living sheltered lives.

I think you'll find that making condescending assumptions about someone's life to get your point across to them is one of the laziest discussion tactics and will get you nowhere.

If anything, it's the other way around. Most people who have grown the fuck up and have lived through shit enough to get their head on straight are the ones who will look at this and say, "no, that's not love, it's obsession and infatuation."
