y'all are so quick to cry RACISM!11 when a writer writes a black character that either isn't well-liked (and don't even tell me bonnie is well-liked in comparison to stefan, elena, damon, caroline and katherine) or has bad shit happen to them. news flash! bad shit happens to everyone on tv, not just black characters!

I think the problem lies in the fact that on TVD, if a new character is black, a majority of the audience doesn't even bother to get invested anymore, because they have a propensity for dying...quickly.

This. 'Black Guy Dies First' is a meme/trope for a reason. It's one thing for bad shit to happen to characters, it's another for it to happen disproportionately to certain kinds of characters, especially when that pattern is repeated not just in the show under discussion but throughout media as a whole.

I didn't think he (or anyone other than Damon) owes her any apology for what happened to her mother. Bonnie and her mother knowingly and willingly agreed to kill him and his brothers and sisters. If they'd succeeded, I don't think Bonnie would have even felt too upset that Caroline or any of the others would have died.

Not secret: I really think Bonnie could be a fantastic character if it weren't for JP's horrible racism.

Unfortunately, that is not Damon - even though the way the secret is worded that would make sense. That's actually Elijah, one of the "Originals". Him and his siblings are who the secret is talking about.
