Someone in my family wants to become a quantum physicist. They can't do basic maths. Nevertheless, this is what he's going for, when he's failed 3/4 classes at community college the first two semesters he went.) Our local colleges don't offer degrees in this, from what he says to the family, but he's dead certain he can get there from here.

Another wanted to become a Veterinarian but 1. can't handle the sight of blood/damage on those vet programs on Animal Planet and 2. has lots of trouble with maths and sciences. (It took years for them to realize that they weren't suited, everyone else knew it right away.)

:( I love them, I just don't understand really assessing the pros/cons of a job and realistically evaluating your capabilities. I'd love to be a forensic specialist but I know for a fact I'd be horrible at it. As much as I love the idea of the career, I understand the realistic problems I'd face (gore and smells primarily) and so I didn't waste my time on what I knew to be out of my reach.

Ugh I wanted to be a physicist for ages, and did pretty well in university but it killed my happiness and now I'm in the arts, hahaha.

Even when you ARE good at math, physics is tough to major. I aimed for astrophysics and the third year killed my brain. :( I miss it though. I love the subject matter. But it was too much after a while.

I'm the exact same! (Anon from above). I quit in third year as well. I love reading about physics but I can't study it anymore.

The trouble is I started out really well in the first couple of years. I guess it was just overload after that :( I do still love reading about physics and astronomy, though it only makes me miss it. Haha.

I've heard vet school is as expensive as med school, but the actual work doesn't pay nearly as well, so becoming a vet just means accruing a huge amount of debt you will spend the rest of your life trying to pay off.
