Well, if you're a freelancer though, I'd say that's different. I'm presuming that does still give you some income and satisfaction, too?

No satisfaction whatsoever. And my meager financial contribution is nothing compared to what I can't/don't contribute at home because I'm "working." I actually feel a lot worse about myself at those times. I particularly hate that dinners become a matter a processed junk thrown together hurriedly or are delivered from somewhere. I resent not having the time to stay on top of things around the house or exercising my creativity. Having to tell a friend that I can't get together to listen to their troubles is outright painful because nothing I do to earn money is worth not being there for a friend in need; I know because it's happened twice.

I regret mentioning that I do freelance simply because this seems to make you think that gives me worth or purpose or value, but I said it because it's just the opposite. It gets in the way of my life, of my home and family and friends and happiness. It makes me feel like I have less worth because it's a fact that my financial contributions to my family are of much lesser value than everything else I do.

Well, I think you clarified pretty well though, so in that sense it's maybe good you mentioned it, because I wouldn't have gotten this from your previous post.

Yeah, I have trouble making things clear when I feel strongly about something. It's all good, though. tl;dr - Some people do have passion for it and find it more fulfilling than paying jobs/careers.
