Re: Any creepy admirers, FS?
So this guy used to follow me around. Like, he would follow me all day around school and only be a few feet away at max. He also would try to gift me things. He almost dominated any conversation we were in in order to earn my affection. He stood too close and couldn't take any hint I wasn't interested. Occasionally he would say inappropriate things that scared me. (This was his rarest trait.) He denied what he was doing.
I tried a few things but the best option, for me, was to be very direct about it. Unfortunately I was too chicken shit at the time to do that myself so I had my friends help me. They confronted him and told him what he was doing was not cool. He wised up, was extremely embarrassed, and never did that to any girl ever again. We're still friends and I think not only did he learn from it but I did too. I learned about being more direct and about relying on other people when you need to. (Something that was hard for me at the time.) His social skills have only improved over the years and he even apologized to me.
So that's my really benign story.
Re: Any creepy admirers, FS?
I'm glad yours has a happy ending (in that he learned to stop being creepy, and apologized)! Some people just do. not. get it, it seems, but he wizened up.
Re: Any creepy admirers, FS?
Yeah, he was just never any good at any social interactions, really, and had a hard time grasping certain concepts. He was normally fine, especially if you took the time to explain it to him, it just happened that his misunderstanding manifested in an unpleasant way for me personally and I used to be someone who had trouble being direct. Once it was explained to him he felt really bad and had had no idea that what he had been doing was unpleasant. So yeah, it all worked out and I'm glad to say he's still one of my best friends.
Re: Any creepy admirers, FS?
Good on him for being willing to learn from his mistakes and move on.
