Yes. Because something has to be appropriative or -ist or [insert other SJ buzzword here] before you're allowed to dislike it, find it overdone, or be annoyed by it. Anything and everything you dislike HAS to be oppressive or offensive somehow, and if it insn't at a glance, you should keep grasping at straws until you find an SJ-approved dismissal to stick to it. That's the fandom climate we've come to.

*SIGH*

Look, I'm all for people to just stop offhandedly bashing and shitting on stuff, but I find this attitude that only things related to social justice are worth discussing really fucking tiring.

Sort of building off of this (and I apologize if you do not agree OP), I hate that you can't dislike female or miniority characters without having to create long essays. If you don't create a long essay (and often when you do), you will inevitably be called misogynistic or racist.

And it is like, no I just think Rose is a stupid character. :(

+1 especially about Rose.

But if you do write a long essay about your reasons for disliking said characters, you bet that someone will accuse you of "mansplaining" or some shit.

The only place this "fandom climate" really exists in droves is Tumblr and LiveJournal, tho'. And both are very easily avoided? For me, anyway.

Where else would you find similar fannish numbers and activity (by which I mean anything beyond "cool art, draw my OC next" or "I love your fic, write more"!), though?
