Oh, hell, I forgot about the Rita Skeeter thing.

And I want to be clear--I never wanted any of the Trio dead, and normally I like tricky, devious characters. I love Artemis Fowl and other folks like that. But there's something unsettling about how all of Hermione's actions, including kidnapping and blackmail, are portrayed as Right.

At least when Harry Dresden does something awful because the It Was The Best Option and The End Justifies The Mean, the story actually acknowledges that he's doing an Awful Thing.


Her hypocrisy was another big thing. Most trickster characters are self-aware enough to avoid being hypocrites.
