We "get" the ~real meaning, oh special snowflake, but there is enough wiggle room because a "Vulcan farewell between brothers" and a "Vulcan kiss" that we can interpret what Kirk and Spock did as a Vulcan Kiss without you getting butthurt that omg fangirls are getting porn in my pure masculine very manly brothers!!1! relationship.
