I didn't really get that impression. the kids obviously loved gru and it seemed like the two older children (I forget their names) didn't really have much of a problem being raised by a single father (not outwardly anyway). but, yeah, I can't really blame Agnes for wanting a mom. You gotta remember that she did have a mom at one point in her life and she died tragically along with her father. It makes sense that she would miss having a mother.

agnes made a brief mention of them in the first movie. iirc, they died in a car crash

See, and my personal headcanon was that the girls were somehow from the 1950's and simply hadn't aged...because how popular are the names Margo, Edith, and Agnes in this day and time and how did all three of them find each other.

actually now that I think about it, I'm starting to worry that I confused agnes' parents with lilo's parents from lilo and stitch. I could have sworn that agnes said her parents died in a car accident but I haven't been able to find anything about it on google...does anyone else remember her talking about it?
