I was so mad that he got married. I found Lucy annoying and there just wasn't the development of a family, really, between the girls, Gru, and Lucy. It just felt weird.

Same here. I held out hope until almost the end that Gru and Lucy would end up just as friends but nooooooooo... Madame Destructo somehow ended up part of the household. Lucy was so ridiculously over the top "cute clumsy" and dangerously inept that I never warmed up to her. As Gru's mom would say, "Feh."
