Re: "Female"
Yeah, I've had this issue.
(police/military drill male/female into you instead of man/woman, until it's second nature).
It seems a petty thing to get het up about, but to be fair, a lot of the guys who use 'females' are creepers.
Re: "Female"
(Anonymous) 2013-07-27 12:04 am (UTC)(link)They don't have misogyny hardwired in their institutions at the most basic level. No the military isn't made up of 90% rapists. No the police don't support and in many cases assist in the abuse of women.
Fucking hell.
Re: "Female"
I mean I'm sure you've got some opinions on 124ds right.
Once you've done that, maybe explain how any of that ties into what we're discussing, and the fact the they use the same for both genders, and the nuances of proper radio usage (there's a reason you're using foxtrot not whisky).
Re: "Female"
(Anonymous) 2013-07-27 12:35 am (UTC)(link)If I were going to complain about police/military use of male/female as opposed to man/woman, I would complain about it reducing the subjects of their discussion to something less than human. But then I'd have to explain why I don't have a problem with medical personnel defaulting to male/female, and I don't have an explanation for that right now, so I'm not going to complain.
'Female' is not a sexism issue if they are also using 'male'.
