Search me. Maybe it feels too clinical and cold to some people. Like how some people get bent out of shape when you say, "penis" and "vagina" instead of some slang term like "dick" and "va-jay-jay."

Mmm...from what I've heard it's that a lot of people [in particular, a certain type of guy] will refer to women as "females" in ways that are pretty dehumanizing.
