In my head, I do agree with you but in my heart I think I'll always believe that kids need a mother. That kind of nurturing...it's hard to replace. At least to me, but I understand a lot of gay couples do just fine.

Funny enough, I don't think the flip is true at all - that kids need a father.

Yup, hypocritical as fuck.

I respectfully disagree. I believe that children do not need a mother and/or a father. I think what they need are loving guardians of any and all genders. Being a mother does not necessarily make you a nurturing, efficient parent, just like being a father doesn't make you a deadbeat or incompetent. The important thing shouldn't be the genders or gender roles of the adults around the children, but simply whether they're willing and able to take care of them.

+1

Exactly what I came to say here.

I disrespectfully disagree. You have fucked up ideas about gender. My kid doesn't have a dad, he has two mums, and we are not more "nurturing" or less "adventuring" or whatthefuckever, because gender doesn't determine good parenting.

Women are "more nurturing" than men. Gordon Bennett, *vomit*

Well, obviously kids need at least a womb they can come out of.
Everything else is society trying to force women back into the kitchen and prevent gay couples or single parents from being valued. At least you understand that you're a hypocrite.

Yeah, screw you.

My mum fucked off when I was 2 and my dad raised me and my brother on his own just fine. We've never wanted for anything else because we didn't know what we were missing really.

If you never wanted anything else, you weren't missing anything. :)
