I think I've heard a few people complain about this but I don't get it at all. I don't get how it's "dehumanizing." And not getting what mental gymnastics it takes to get offended does not make me sexist or a man thank you very fucking much.

If someone were to refer to me as "a female," I would expect to start hearing the disembodied voice of David Attenborough narrating my efforts to forage for food or my hunt for a parking space or whatever.

It's okay for you to not be offended by something. But that doesn't make the people who are offended by it unreasonable or engaging in mental gymnastics.
