I wish I knew. I've been trying to convince people for YEARS to refer to me as female instead of woman (because I feel it's a more accurate descriptor). Yeah, some people find the word dehumanizing and they have a right to their opinion (and a baseline of respect), but honestly to me it's just another partially-accurate label, and I wish people would just learn to call people what they want to be called. This of course also means respecting women who DON'T want to be called females for whatever reason.

If anyone's curious, it's b/c I think of "woman" and "man" as social roles that have very little to do with who I am, and although I'm bio female, I don't consider myself a woman. English needs gender-neutral pronouns that aren't ridiculous (it) or limited-use (ze, xe). No transwank please, I won't be replying to this thread in any case.
