I know this wasn't aimed at the Once Upon a Time fandom, and applies to lots of other fandoms besides, but ...

There are fandoms where the fans continue to see a canon ship despite the writers' and actors' insistence to the contrary that they had no intention or idea of shipteasing or queerbaiting. At least, once someone explained to them what either term meant. I just watched part of the OUAT fandom explode because the creators are clearly homophobic for not pairing up two of the female leads. It has nothing to do with the fact that Regina meant to kill Emma as a baby, had her minions try and kill baby Emma's father, and ripped away the memories, homes, and happiness of an entire world full of people to make Emma's mother miserable. Then, when Emma grew into a hot woman, instead of making mad passionate love and healing each others' myriad issues like the shippers wanted, Regina threatened Emma, had her framed and jailed, and attempted to poison her into a coma she'd never wake up from. But hey, they share a son and chemistry and mutual hotness, so clearly they should be a romantic couple and their most heated arguments should be whether they're having lasagna or pizza for dinner. As a very alternate AU, fine. But it's never going to be canon.

--a Mulan/Aurora shipper who is sick of accusations of homophobia and misogyny because I don't ship SwanQueen. I only would for the hatesex, except I'm really not a fan of hatesex and it doesn't seem to be what most SQ fans want anyway. (Is there much hatesex fic that doesn't devolve into nevermind, true love! by the end? Because even if I'm not into it, it seems weird that there isn't more.)

I watch the show but I'm not super involved in the fandom (b/c Teen Wolf is making it impossible for me to do anything else ;-;) and I new Swan Queen was like the Sterek of OUAT fandom but I did nooot know it was that serious. But I see the same thing in Teen Wolf where people are complaining that TPTB are homophobic for not putting Stiles and Derek together, even when there is a canonically gay character in a happy relationship on the show. It's that level of (delusion? what's a nicer word for it) that makes me sad :(
