I don't really mind when people say that stuff. That kind of excitability and exaggeration is just the way fandom talks? But I don't think there is a way to communicate it to TPTB that doesn't make me cringe. Even though it's nobody I know, I feel involved :(

I'm starting to think that maybe Nella is the real Nostalgia Chick. Maybe she's the one that was watching The Nostalgia Critic when he announced that he was searching for a female counterpart. Nella saw this as an opportunity but maybe figured she didn't look hot enough and a hot girl would probably win so she grabbed the hottest girl she knew and wrote all the dialogue for her.

She just seems much more invested than Lindsay in the nostalgic movies and shows.

South Park has always been a festering pit of awfulness, they'd get complaints if the actually did something properly. It is the /b/ of the cartoon world.

Family Guy, while still horrible in its own special way, is much more mainstream and usually the joke is on the characters for acting so stupid about #issue, but the Crying Game puking scenes were not called out as character stupidity specifically so it came across as an attack on the transsexual character rather than an example of the stupid character shit.

Mainstream shows should tread more carefully on sensitive issues than rancid pits of shit shows anyway.

I think a lot of their lack of personality has to do with the fact that they're teenagers. The YA are all a bit on the bland side, in my opinion, and none of the relationships are very thrilling to read. They also never had much room to grow - the old version wasn't exactly a long running 10 volumes+ thing. The OOCness of the new version (plus the terrible redesign) really doesn't help - quite on the contrary.

I guess the "they're just popular because they're gay" is true for some people - considering the amount of canon homosexual couples in comic books, readers who are interested in those relationships tend to take what they can get.
