i don't know very many authors who still frequent the meme any more. :( not too long until s3 though?

I hate the write it yourself reply. What's the fun in that? If I wanted to write it I could just play it out in my head and be content with that. Not everyone has the gift of writing fanfiction. Sometimes stuff by talented anons just comes out better.

"Write it yourself" is a really annoying response because not all readers are writers, and sometimes you're just in the mood to read a fic and don't have the time and energy for writing. Also, sometimes it just doesn't work. I started writing Sherlock fic because I wanted to read something very specific and couldn't find anything, but the fics I ended up writing were not what I had in mind when first visiting AO3.

OP, since you want to draw more activity to the meme, maybe you could add a link to this thread?
