That sucks and you honestly see it with anything. People have mentioned horseback riding but you also see it in any sport, really. Hollywood doesn't care about safe an accurate representation. They care about money and that's about it.

it's not even just sports - I side-eye Backdraft so frickin' hard [you can't jump from one fire escape to another in full turnout gear!] because my father's a 25yr vet and Backdraft is a movie he used as a lecture as *what* not to do since our probies thought Bull was the awesome when it came out
