Fang/Vanille is text imo - it's all right there. I'd say the romance between them is canon, and the only part that's not spelled out is whether it's sexual or not.

This. It's funny how if Fang was a guy no one would even be questioning whether it was subtext or not. They'd accept it as canon.

Yeah that.

It's not even THAT far off in terms of tone from how Balthier/Fran was played in FFXII, in that there's lot sof togetherness and innuendo and it's only in one scene close to the end where there's any confirmation that they're actually a couple. Fang/Vanille is much more explicitly romantic. But yeah, it is always worth saying 'What if Fang was a guy?'
