Fuck anyone who is trying to ruin your experience. Sometimes, you just have to say, "This effected me greatly when I was young, please don't ruin it for me." I had to say that to my friend when watching Narnia movies because, yeah, that's my childhood right there, and yeah, I want to watch it without any bitching. Hopefully, whoever is bothering you about it will understand or you can avoid places where people bitch about the movie.

And I'm excited to see it, too. "The enemy's gate is down!" Argh, such good stuff.

NARNIA! :D That was the first fantasy series I ever fell in love with, and it started me off on all the others. I was totally obsessed and spent so much of my childhood trying to get into Narnia, but apparently not all closets lead there. /o\

I started rereading the series last year, and for the first time noticed small things that made me uncomfortable, but I have too much love for the series to let that spoil it.

Glad I'm not the only one who did that as a kid. Hell, I'd kill to go to Narnia even now, even with the problems I now have with many of its aspects.

Also, for what it's worth, I think you should go see Ender's Game and not feel bad about it. I hope that it captures what you loved most about the book and brings you joy. Though I'm not a fan of any of OSC's writing (just couldn't ever get into his style), I know what it's like to love something created by a complete ass-cactus, so you'll get no judgement from me.
