The guys you're talking about don't really come into slash spaces anyway, so what's the point? They don't suffer when you ship things; it's their own minds that do that to them.

Slash isn't just limited to "slash spaces" it's really kind of the norm in most fandoms. Besides, they still know it exists, and it pisses them off.

Uh, it pretty much is. It gets mentioned in passing in other fandom spaces but in the sense of being That Weird Thing Over There. It doesn't 'piss them off'; they just make fun of it from a safe distance. Them in their bubble, us in ours.
