Re: Beauty vs other things

I think Hollywood and advertising have taken the concept of beauty and twisted it until there is only one standard of beauty. Then they give us the message that if you do not fit that standard then you are ugly as sin and must change yourself.

Really, there are lots of kinds of beauty. Small busted women were considered attractive during the Raging Twenties. Rembrandt painted full figured ladies. Defining beauty by one specific, narrow standard (thin, perfect hair, large breasts, etc) is just so boring that I can't fault people for wanting to celebrate their kind of beauty.

I get what you're saying, I just think there are so many outside forces telling us we're not good enough that anytime somebody says 'fuck that, I'm awesome' I think it's a good thing.
