16. I could have written this. Subtext is really what it's all about to me. Subtext and unresolved sexual tension, both in canon and fic. And while all that porn is really nice, it's mountains of lead-up that make me the happiest fangirl this side of the Rockies. ♥

35. MEDIUM IS SO GOOD. I wish I hadn't missed an entire season because of work. I just... don't feel right hopping back in. I don't know what's going on. ;_;

42 - Tell me about it. I'm kinda lucky in that my main band-fandom is almost entirely (like, 98%) female. Makes it easier, but it's still odd to go "Wait...you're a guy? WTF I didn't even think of that!" and then "Oops. My bad, sorry for the brain-scarring" when I've been talking about girly stuff for a while. :P

15's a repeat too Ithink

27. GENSHIKEN SECRET. GENSHIKEN SECRET.

You win so hard for this.

Genshiken makes me feel good about loving anime and manga. :D

I originally had a bunch of gushy text, but pared it down. Truth is, it was reading that volume of the manga that gave me the courage to fess up to my own fannish fujoshi self.

Ogiue ♥

10. ME TOO.
25. That girl is hero.

THIRTY FOUR

AHAHAHAHA! YES! <333 Pretty much all my mp3's I got from people's submissions to the [livejournal.com profile] fst community here on LJ.

I seriously need to find the episode the "James with boobies" sketch is from, because I am missing something important in my Pokemon experience.

Re: 25

[identity profile] theorygirl.livejournal.com 2007-10-05 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
It's from episode 18, "Aopuruko no Kyuujitsu (Aolpulco Vacation)." Later aired in the US with that scene cut out as "Beauty and the Beach."

I don't understand Lysette's post at FAP. My eyes sort of glaze over after awhile.

...but I do enjoy her, just because she gets the OBHWF crowd all worked up. They might consider themselves "sane", but they are as bad as the rabid Harry/Hermione shippers.

[identity profile] pts.livejournal.com 2007-10-05 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
I wouldn't call it sexism, exactly. In livejournal-style (as opposed to forum-style) fandom, it skews heavily female, so it's a reasonable assumption to make. As one of the relatively few dudes (and a lot older than some of my elljay friends) I tend to feel pretty weird about it sometimes.

I'm a ho an reply to too many secrets.

[identity profile] roko-epsilon.livejournal.com 2007-10-05 04:09 am (UTC)(link)
10: lolol DON'T WORRY, THAT WAS MY GATEWAY TOO :D

16: The only yaoi/bl series or anything that I ever liked was Fake :c

21: 4chan does that to people

28: cry moar :U

35: SO RONERY No but seriously this looks a bit interesting what is it.

41: D: I never liked slash because I was lonely or anything. Hell, I'm scared of people. I never... WANTED a relationship (though like lol I ended up getting myself into one anyway), I was just INCREDIBLY INTERESTED in the dynamics of people and relationships and like to explore things with fictional characters.

42: I DO THE EXACT SAME THING

30

[identity profile] rekallthegreat.livejournal.com 2007-10-05 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
I think I know what you're talking about and if it is... &hearts

[identity profile] marsdragon.livejournal.com 2007-10-05 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
21. Ha, me too. I blame GaoGaiGar and 4chan. Mostly 4chan. And I can't really tell my friend because she's not horribly corrupted.

42. There might be girls on the interweb, but they aren't there.

...or ARE THEY?

[identity profile] demyx.livejournal.com 2007-10-05 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
42. Dude, I do the same thing.

Except it usually never fails me. I know a total of about 3 guys in fandom. Out of... geez, I guess 100+ girls now (people I met/know, not people I'm actually friends with).

As far as the rest of the Internet goes, though... yeah, there are no girls. Or they don't speak up, anyway.

[identity profile] elystia.livejournal.com 2007-10-05 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
25. BEST EVER. I'd find that person and shake their hand.

42. I do that too! Except for when I'm fangirling things like Halo 3, then I assume by default that all the other fans are male. We're all a little sexist deep down, I guess.

[identity profile] kinneas.livejournal.com 2007-10-05 02:36 pm (UTC)(link)
42. Except it's not sexism. You're just making an educated guess+assumption based on sociological observations. On my LJ, the majority are female. On my Hitman forum, I'm one of like three girls.

If you want to, come find me. I think I can help you.

[identity profile] angeladunn.livejournal.com 2007-10-05 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
13. That episode was the only full episode of Dr. Who that I saw... I agree with you... :>
34. ARE YOU ME???? kidding xD I'm the same way. It's how I found a lot of music/ groups that I like listening to, now :)
42. Me, too xD;;; I actually called one 'him' a 'her' when I talked about them in a journal I wrote... I found out the next day when looking through their webpage that they were actually a man...
It was really awkward and embarassing :x
I only hope they didn't notice...

[identity profile] asdhjfbciwu3487.livejournal.com 2007-10-05 05:03 am (UTC)(link)
I think 41 is just a big generalization, though. Tons of women who love slash and reading yaoi have healthy relationships. I mean, I can see how it can be an escape for some people, but I don't think it should be assumed that it is the case across the board. Anyway, I'm sorry you feel that way, but I don't think you should give up!

We're all in our 20s and LOVE the series. You're not alone!

21. You can read the entire book here (http://dormitem.com/blog/193).

[identity profile] loquaciousquark.livejournal.com 2007-10-05 05:30 am (UTC)(link)
28. Well, if it makes you feel any better, I can assure that I neither know nor care about you and have never made a secret about you. :/

35. I'm sorry there's no fandom, but your last line made me lol. :D

(Anonymous) 2007-10-05 05:36 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, Uncle Pete! Seriously, what the fuck is that?

10.

[identity profile] ediblestars.livejournal.com 2007-10-05 06:00 am (UTC)(link)
So same here. And absolutely my gateway drug into fanfic--I used to write for the Neopian Times (though I rarely finished anything, exactly) and I always hung with the NT crowd over at a forum called the NTWF... wonder if it still exists. Great place to grow up in, back in the day--I really credit it for expanding my worldview beyond what my parents were telling me I should be. Really helped me grow as a person--and if that sounds sappy, I'm sorry, but it's true.

I left when the site started coming down really hard on the writers, regulating everything with an austere and probably arbitrary set of rules that was never (to my knowledge) revealed to the Neopian public. I wonder how that ended. There were a lot of really creative minds stifled by that, I know--and yeah, dramatic. But Neopets was more or less my life in the way that my internet existence is now.

I have so many characters, so many ideas. I miss them. I wonder if I can bring them into a different universe, maybe their own--or if Neopia's is worth revisting.

Haha, I ship Zelos/Sheena and Regal/Raine and I'm about the same with the sequel XD;

[identity profile] ovendoor.livejournal.com 2007-10-05 07:11 am (UTC)(link)
42. I don't think that's sexism in the slightest- the majority of people on LJ are of the female gender, so find it understandable. And plus, like 80% of the people i meet through fandom? ARE GIRLS. All my guy friends never bother with LJ...and if they do, they're not that much into fandom.

ALSO, MY THEORY IS, MOST ANONYMOUS ON /a/? ARE GIRLS.
