Generally, I agree. I don't care enough about celeb lives to comment to begin with, but I just got SO SICK of hearing about the royal baby the day he was born (and I'm not even close to Britain) that I just had to scream out my annoyance on Twitter that day.

tbf I'm in Canada and not sure why we still keep our ties to the British monarchy anymore.

Hello, fellow Canadian. I have been wishing for a republic of Canada for a long time now. I can see why the Brits may want to keep their royal family, but I don't see how it's any benefit to Canada.

3rd Canadian chiming in here.

The reason we still have to deal with the monarchy is so the Tories can give the proletariat its bread and circuses, distracting the voter base from the fact that they are selling the country itself wholesale, to further their white supremacist, right-wing, scary religious Evangelical agenda..

The fact that old Bess is basically the English version of the Pope just makes Harpo even happier.

ayrt (2nd anon). While I'm not one of the Tory flock, I can't blame the monarchy on them. With the federal government alternating between being either Liberal or Conservative forever, neither party has made any moves at removing the monarchy from Canada.

Well I'm Australian (Australia holds similar links to Britain as Canada does), but I like being able to say I have a Queen. It really doesn't make any difference in my life, I just like it.
