I thought Bridesmaids was fine precisely because (at least to me) it seemed aware of its darkness. It's a comedy centered around a deeply depressing story, and it acknowledged that.

Bachelorette, on the other hand, was genuinely one of the most awful, horrifying, unfunny, depressing movies I've ever seen. If you want to talk about watching people's lives go from bad to worse... There was not a single part of that movie that I thought was funny and not just deeply sad.
