It's backlash to overexposure, which is a very normal response. The obsessive fascination shown by the general population for these things has made it literally impossible for most uninterested people to avoid the topics without having to go to extremes. I'd be surprised if people didn't reach a point where they vented about it. Just like you're venting about the people who don't care.
