What you're feeling is totally understandable and totally reasonable. It's true that there are other characters out there who use canes, but if they're not your faves, they're not your faves, and there could still use to be more of them. If for some reason someone really wanted to see nondisabled characters on TV, that would be very easy. You have your favorite of the few well-written cane users in fiction and it's taken from you, and some snarky doctor doesn't make that go away.

OTOH, maybe this thread can function as a rec list for you, if you do want to find more characters.
