HOLY SHIT PHOEBUS IS TULIO?

[personal profile] transcriptanon 2013-08-04 08:33 pm (UTC)(link)
[Picture is Phoebus from the animated Disney film "The Hunchback of Notre Dame", Mr. Fischoeder from the cartoon "Bob's Burgers" and Tulio from the animated Dreamworks film "The Road to El Dorado". Phoebus is a blond man with short hair reaching his chin, a slight beard and tanned skin. Mr. Fischoeder is a man with triangular looking gray hair, wearing an eye-patch and with lightly tanned skin and wearing a labcoat over a white T-shirt and a purple tie. Tulio is a thin man with long black hair pulled back in a low ponytail, a goatee, lightly tanned olive skin and wearing a brown vest over a blue shirt.]

For the longest time, I could not accept that the same actor played Phoebus and Mr. Fischoeder. It just seemed to bizarre. I think I vaguely decided that they were two different voice actors with the same name -- there are a bunch of Kevin Klines out there, right?

Then I realized he also played Tulio and suddenly: IT ALL MADE SENSE.

Wait, what made sense and why? I don't understand.

I have nothing to add expect that Kevin Kline has a lovely voice.

Dude, what.
Look at Kevin Kline's movie history and you'll understand that he has had many snarky roles before.

In case you want to compare Tulio to Mr. Fisch - please go away.

OP

Okay, I've been amused enough by people's reaction to the secret, may as well explain myself.

To me, Mr. Fisch and Phoebus seemed so far apart in character (and, it must be noted, excellently unique deliveries for both characters) that it actually acted upon my ear and I couldn't understand how it could be the same voice actor doing both. Then I realized that Tulio was the missing link between the two voices; his tone and delivery is the exact middle between the two. It's got nothing to do with the characters, but the sound of the voice to me.

da

Ah, thanks for the explanation!

I see. And for the anime fans: Steve Blum is Spike Spiegel, Guilmon, Leeron, and Amon. Please let this blow more minds or break brains.

I'm just startled to learn that there are people who think of Kevin Kline as primarily a voice actor. No offense intended; that's just new information to me.
