Re: COMPLAINTS THREAD

I've been working out for a couple of weeks now and I'm still fat and it's very discouraging. And I have to go to the doctor for a physical in like three days and they're going to be like, are you exercising? And I have been but since I'm so fat I don't think they'll believe me.

I'm sorry but... it takes a lot more than two weeks. Just tell them you just started.

Uh, your doctor should believe you and if not they're a crap doctor. Weight loss is not immediate and for some people they're still never skinny (I'm like this, I am always overweight but exercise just makes me less overweight.)

A couple weeks??!!! Son, if you're doing it right (i.e. not crash dieting, and thus not going to gain all the weight back - and then some - later), you won't see very noticeable results for months.

the healthy amount of weight to lose per week is around 2 or 2.5 pounds or less (this does of course depend on how much you weigh now, but doctors generally don't recommend losing more than that). When you go to your doctor for a physical, tell them that you've started an exercise regiment and that you'd like advice. And remember that exercising is a great way to get in shape, but eating a healthy diet does a lot more to actually help you lose weight (so if you're eating a crappy diet then exercise probably isn't going to do you much good on the whole weight thing). You should be doing both of these thing in conjunction.

it also takes a while for your body to start acclimating, so it makes sense that you haven't seen results after only exercising for two weeks.

Healthy weight loss is slow weight loss, and no competent doctor is going to expect you to lose tons of weight in only 2-3 weeks.

You've done a great thing by starting - keep it up!

Like the other anon said, tell your doctor you've just started. And keep going! You are amazing OP, and you're going to ride this train to the end! Just take it one step at the time, and screw everyone and anyone who tells you you're not doing it right, because what you're doing is right for you.
