So happy they did not continue the "gets younger everytime he turns into a human sparkplug" theme. There may be hope yet.

I know there are some people on Tumblr crying about his age already. I don't think they realise a lot of the Doctors have been 40+.

Ahem. Sorry. He's relatively young, going by averages. I think, before the reboot, Davison was the youngest.

I thought so too, but I looked it up and Peter Davidson was the youngest at 29.

OMG a graph! That's awesome. And interesting that there really has been a general trend towards younger doctors, even if they cast a younger actor than the previous one only half the time.

Now they've gone and messed up the graph by casting someone as old as William Hartnell was!*

*Not that I don't approve of this decision - I do.

I'm really suprised that they cast someone as old as Hartnell! I thought forsure they'd keep going younger or stay under 35. It's a pleasent shock!

This was exactly my reaction! I was resigned to it being another really young actor. Right or wrong, it's been proven that literally millions of adults struggle to believe that someone so young is still, in fact, the Doctor.
